Pottermore has announced that that the one-millionth Welcome email has been sent out.
Thank you to everyone who has followed, contributed to, and supported this blog. I appreciate you all more than you know.
I will be shutting this blog down. I considered making a blog about Pottermore from the inside, but right now, I know I wouldn’t be able to commit to it as much as I would want to. I will not delete this blog simply because I’m personally proud of everything that we’ve collectively accomplished.

On Day 6-7 Email Distribution
We have now received numerous reports of Welcome email receipt by those who registered on Days 6 and 7. It seems distribution is finally coming to a close. Thus, if you have NOT received your Welcome email yet, please let us know along with which day you registered. Thank you.

Yes, I realize that Pottermore almost definitely isn't going to open on October 1st--but they did say that the last of the Magical Quill welcome emails would go out on September 30. It'd be really unfortunate if they backed out on that date.

If they do need to move the date back, everyone needs to be understanding. Pottermore is basically one big experiment of a website, so we need to understand if they need to change plans in order to focus on the website rather than pleasing every single person involved. Please stay patient.

Even if the Pottermore Insider post about work being done at 7 am referred to Wednesday morning, shouldn't that work be over now? Why haven't welcome emails resumed? And do you personally think that Pottermore will get everyone in within the next 9 days?

Just give them time and Welcome emails should start going out at a normal rate once again as promised. Also, you must keep in mind that nowhere does it say that Pottermore will be open to all on October 1, 2011. The opening could occur anytime in October, and it’s even possible that they will push back the date if need be. Just continue to be patient, and everyone who registered through the Magical Quill Challenge will gain access to Pottermore eventually.

Do you have an estimate of how many emails are being sent out daily with the slow down?

We do not know exactly how many emails are being sent out daily, but it seems that the daily distribution amount has significantly decreased unless they’ve stopped distribution completely. We will continue to track Welcome email distribution and keep you updating. In the meantime, please continue to notify us if/when you receive your Welcome email.
